Gender-Based Violence Project Coordinator
Position: Term Contract Part-time (30 Hours per Week) until March 31, 2026 (Subject to renewal)
Location: Cambridge Bay.
The Kitikmeot Friendship Society (KFS) is a non-profit organization established to create and
implement unique programs addressing families and individuals in the Kitikmeot Region. Under the
direction of the President and the Director of Programs, the Gender-Based Violence Project
Coordinator will support KFS in Fulfilling its mandate and responsibilities.
This position will ensure that women and members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community are advocated for
and given a voice within the Kitikmeot Region. The Gender Based Violence Project Coordinator will
work with individuals, families and stakeholders and staff members to create an advocacy group
within the Kitikmeot Region to formulate strategy for HR Policy and programming policy within the
Kitikmeot Friendship Society. The position is also expected to participate in community
consultations across the Kitikmeot Region and engage with local relevant stakeholders, ensuring
programs that are created are sensitive and respectful to women and members of the 2SLGBTQI +
community. The successful candidate will be expected to be an advocate both within and outside
the organization for discrimination suffered by women and 2SLGBTQI+ members.
The position requires a highly motivated individual who is flexible with working hours, has the
capacity to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate should have an
understanding and knowledge of the systemic barriers and oppression that women and members of
the 2SLGBTQI+ community experience. The candidate is expected to have a post-secondary
education and leadership training (Preferably Bachelor’s in Social Work, Diploma in Social Services
Work). Those with equivalent work experience are encouraged to apply.
This position has a starting salary of $30/HR, Northern Allowance of $10.04/HR. Staff housing and
relocation costs are not available. Employment requires an acceptable criminal record check and
